Appreciation post: the beach that finally got me to sort my finds
I used to just toss everything from a cleanup into one bag and call it done. Then I hit Ocean Beach in San Francisco last Saturday and saw a volunteer group with five separate bins for plastic, fishing line, glass, metal, and mystery stuff. Watching their system cut sorting time in half made me realize how much easier it is to recycle when you do it on the spot. Has anyone else started separating on the beach instead of at home, and what categories do you use?

The whole "sort on the spot" thing sounds great until you're the one stuck hauling five bags across a mile of sand. Seeing those volunteers with their fancy bins is nice, but most of us are out there alone and don't have the time or extra hands to do that setup. I'll keep tossing it all in one bag and sorting at home where I've got proper space and a hose, thanks.
