Unpopular opinion: I ditched my mechanical keyboard for a cheap membrane one

I was all in on Cherry MX Blues for 2 years, but after my roommate complained about the noise during late night raids I grabbed a $15 Logitech from a thrift store... honestly my typing speed went up and my ears don't ring anymore. Has anyone else found an odd switch preference through a weird circumstance?

Did you ever try the O-rings or foam mods before giving up on the mechanical board? I get that the noise can be a problem, but cheap membrane keyboards feel mushy to me and I lose accuracy on fast typing. My old Cherry MX Browns with dampeners are still quiet enough for my wife to watch TV in the same room. I guess different strokes for different folks, but I'd rather tweak my gear than go back to that rubber dome feeling.

My Cherry MX Blues with O-rings are my daily driver at home, and my wife hasn't complained once about the noise. I tried a cheap membrane board for a week after building my rig, but the mush drove me crazy and my typing speed took a nosedive. It took some trial and error with different dampener thicknesses, but once I got the right ones on there it was worth the tweaking.
