Unpopular opinion: cable management trays are overrated
Everyone swears by those under-desk trays but I spent 6 hours last Saturday installing one from IKEA and my cables are actually harder to access now. The tray itself took way longer to mount than the 20 minutes the instructions said. Has anyone else given up on those things and just gone back to zip ties?

Hold up, zip ties are a temporary fix, not a permanent solution.

Oh man, you're totally right actually. I used to think zip ties were like some kind of miracle fix for everything, but after a few things snapped apart on me at the worst times I had to admit they're just not built for the long haul. They're great for a quick hold while you figure out the real fix, but yeah, you can't just leave them on there and hope for the best. I guess I was being lazy about it before, thinking I could get away with a shortcut. Learned that lesson the hard way more than once.
