That moment I realized my under-desk cable routing was backwards
I spent like 6 months having cables dangling down from my desk in this messy loop. Then I visited my friend Dave in Austin last week and saw how he ran everything along the back edge of the desk first before dropping them. It hit me that I was just letting cables hang loose and blocking my own leg room the whole time. Has anyone else had that dumb moment where you figure out a simple fix you should have seen from day one?

Man, THAT is such a classic thing! It reminds me of how we all organize our kitchen cabinets - we shove stuff in wherever it fits first instead of thinking about what we actually reach for every day. I spent a YEAR putting my coffee mugs on the top shelf above the sink until I realized I should put them right next to the coffee maker. It's like we all have this blind spot for flow in our own spaces, but we can spot the fix instantly at someone else's place. I swear, visiting other people's setups is the best way to see your own dumb habits. Once you see one good routing trick, you start noticing a dozen more things you've been doing wrong without thinking.

You know what, I used to be totally against that idea. Thought my way of doing things was fine and everyone else was just being picky. But this actually changed my mind after I moved into a new place last year. Had my coffee cups on the opposite side of the kitchen from the machine for months before I noticed how dumb that was. Took a friend pointing it out for me to see it, and now I'm rearranging everything little by little. Seriously annoying how blind you can be to your own habits until someone else's setup smacks you in the face.
