That $30 monitor arm I bought off Amazon almost took my eye out last night

I thought I was being smart saving money instead of going with a name brand arm. Got it mounted okay, had my 27 inch monitor on it for about 3 weeks. Then last night I reached for my coffee and the whole thing just gave way. Monitor crashed face down on my desk, the arm snapped at the joint. I'm lucky I wasn't sitting right there. The gas spring cylinder actually popped off and flew across the room. Lesson learned: don't cheap out on stuff holding hundreds of dollars of equipment. Has anyone else had a budget arm fail on them?

Jokes on you, I got a $20 arm and it's holding up my laptop, a Dell dock, and a stack of sticky notes. So far so good. But I keep a hard hat nearby just in case. That gas spring popping off sounds terrifying, man. Glad you kept your eyes.
