Talked to a studio engineer about desk height and now I'm remeasuring everything
Ran into a guy who does mastering at a studio in Nashville while I was picking up cables. He looked at my setup photo and asked where my elbows were. I said roughly level with the desk. He said that's the problem, elbows should sit at a 100 degree angle, slightly open. I always thought 90 degrees was the gold standard. Turns out seating height and monitor angle change all that too. I went home and moved my chair down about 2 inches and tilted my monitors up a bit. Feels strange but my shoulders stopped creeping up after an hour. Has anyone else reworked their desk height after hearing something like this or am I overthinking it?
100 degrees sounds weird but it kinda makes sense. Your body isn't built to sit at perfect right angles all day, so a little open in the elbows keeps you from hunching. If your shoulders stopped creeping up then you already found your answer.
