Swapped from a tiny desk to a butcher block countertop and my back finally stopped hurting

After 5 years hunched over a $30 foldable table, I grabbed a solid wood countertop slab from Home Depot for $120. Threw some $20 legs on it. The depth alone (25 inches vs 18) means my monitor is way farther back and my elbows actually rest on the desk now. No more hunching. Weird how spending less than a gaming chair fixed my posture. Anyone else try going deeper instead of spending on ergo gear?

This is the most back pain forum advice I've ever seen - buy a slab of wood and fix your spine for less than the cost of a Razer mousepad. I swear the "ergonomic chair" industry is just a scam to sell you $800 fabric thrones while the real solution has been sitting at Home Depot the whole time. My chiropractor is going to hate me after I switched to a butcher block and suddenly stopped needing his "adjustments.

@johnh82 Tried the same thing a few years back after my Herman Miller chair gave out. Slapped an oak cutting board on a rolling base from a busted office chair and it's still going strong. My back's never been happier and my wallet definitely agrees with your take on the ergonomic scam.
