My fancy monitor arm bracket snapped after 6 months of use

Bought a $120 gas spring arm off Amazon and the tilt joint gave out last Tuesday, sending my 32" display crashing forward onto my desk. Has anyone else had luck with the cheaper single-pole stands holding up better than these articulating ones?

$120 is basically disposable price point... my $40 single arm has outlasted three of those.

And honestly I think that $40 arm has probably seen some neglect too which speaks to how tough those basic ones can be. People act like spending more means better but sometimes it's just fancier packaging on the same plastic. I've had cheap gear outlast expensive stuff plenty of times because there's less to break. Just a solid simple design is hard to beat no matter what they charge.
