Grandpa's wood desk from 1984 still beats my standing setup
My dad gave me his old oak desk from his first office job in 1984, and I set it up as a backup station in the spare room. Last week I pulled an all-nighter for work and ended up using it because my main sit-stand desk was covered in parts. That thing is solid as a rock, no wobble even with three monitors clamped on, and the surface is still flat after 40 years. My $450 standing desk from 2021 already has a sag in the middle from my keyboard tray. I keep thinking about how people used to buy furniture for life, not just until the next upgrade. Anyone else keep an older piece that outperforms everything newer you own?
