Finally dialed in my monitor arm tension after 6 tries
I got this gas spring arm off Amazon a month ago and kept fighting with it. Every time I let go of the monitor it would either sink down or pop up like it was haunted. I was about to return it. Then I watched a random YouTube video from some guy in Ohio and he said to adjust the tension with the monitor completely horizontal first, not vertical. I did that yesterday and it worked perfect on the first try after that. Has anyone else run into that issue with these arms? The instructions in the box were basically useless.

My buddy Mark had the exact same problem with his arm from a different brand. He literally sent me a video of his monitor slowly sinking down over like 30 seconds... it was hilarious but also sad. He almost threw the whole thing in the trash. Then his girlfriend's brother came over and showed him the same trick you found, tilting it flat first. Mark said he felt like an idiot but it worked instantly. Now he tells everyone about it like he discovered fire.

Six tries feels like a lot for a monitor arm. I get that it's annoying when it doesn't work. But it's just a piece of metal holding up a screen, not brain surgery.
