Cleaned 4 years of dust out of my tower and my CPU temps dropped 11C

I finally pulled the side panel off last Saturday and the dust mat on the front intake was thick enough to peel off in one piece. After a can of air and a wipe down, my idle temps went from 48C to 37C and the fans stopped sounding like a jet at load. I put the tower up on a small wood riser so it sits about 3 inches off the carpet now. For people running carpet setups, how often are you pulling the panel to check the filters?
