Chat with my nephew about his new desk setup made me feel old...

He was showing me his standing desk with all these cable trays and monitor arms, and I mentioned how I used to just balance my CRT on a wooden board. He looked at me funny and said 'wait, you had a CRT?' Made me realize how much the actual furniture part of battlestations has changed in 15 years. Anyone's kid or younger relative made them feel ancient about their own setup lately?

Hang on a second, I think your timeline might be a bit off there. CRT monitors were Already becoming rare by about 2008, not 15 years ago. But yeah, getting that blank stare when you mention a heavy glass tube monitor is a REAL reminder of how fast tech changes.

Wow, really? I always thought CRT monitors stuck around a little longer in schools and offices until like 2012 or so. Were they already completely gone from most stores by 2008, or just getting harder to find?
