3 years of ignoring cable management until my PC temps hit 85C

I get what you're saying about the temps being a wake-up call, but I see it a little different. 85C isn't great but it's not exactly crisis mode for most modern CPUs, you know? I've been guilty of the same cable spaghetti situation for way longer than 3 years (honestly, more like 5) and my temps stayed under 80C the whole time. Unless your case has zero airflow or you're running a space heater in there, those cables aren't choking your fans that badly. Maybe check your thermal paste or fan curves before blaming the mess.

You mentioned "check your thermal paste" and I think that's actually the REAL culprit in a lot of these cases. I read a Gamers Nexus article that said a bad paste application can skyrocket temps by like 10-15C compared to a good one, which is way more than cable clutter could ever do. I've personally seen a friend's build drop from 90C to 75C just from repasting and tightening his cooler properly. Plus those CPU fans have so much static pressure these days that a little cable mess barely registers. Honestly, I think people just like the look of clean cables and blame them for temps to justify buying new parts.
