The $6 game at a garage sale that made me rethink my whole backlog

Found a beat-up copy of Freedom Fighters for 6 bucks at a yard sale in Dayton last Saturday, and it reminded me why I got into this hobby in the first place. I've got like 40 unplayed games from Steam sales, but this old disc pulled me in for 3 hours straight. Anyone else find that cheap physical copies hit harder than the digital stuff you hoard for free?

I picked up a scratched copy of SSX 3 for five bucks three years ago and I still boot it up more than anything in my Epic Games library. There's something about the physical act of swapping discs and hearing the drive spin up that changes how I pay attention. Digital stuff sits there all neat and quiet, so it's easy to pretend I'll get to it later. A beat up case on my shelf makes the game feel like it has a timeline, like someone else already got their money's worth and now it's my turn. Same reason I buy used paperbacks instead of loading up a Kindle, the wear and tear tells you it was worth someone's time. We got so used to owning nothing that we forgot what a cheap, ugly object does for your brain.
