The $12 stand mixer I got at a garage sale in Akron spins better than my sister's $400 one
I know people love to hate on used kitchen gear, but I've used a beat up 1970s stand mixer I paid $12 for at a garage sale in Akron for 3 years now and it never once choked on thick cookie dough. My sister's fancy new one with the digital screen jammed up and started smoking on the same batch, so maybe the old heavy metal ones are just built different. Am I the only one who thinks the vintage stuff actually holds up better than the new stuff with all the extra buttons?
Ha, so your sister paid 400 bucks for a mixer that doubles as a smoke machine? What a deal. My mom's old Kenmore from the 80s weighs about as much as a cinder block and it has exactly two speeds, off and go. That thing has chewed through decades of Christmas cookie dough without a single complaint. All those fancy buttons and screens just give the machine more ways to die on you. Give me a heavy chunk of metal with a switch any day.
