My buddy swore by GOG over Steam for old games, so I gave it a shot
He told me I'd find way better deals on classic RPGs there, and I snagged Fallout 1 and 2 for $5 total last week. Has anyone else ditched Steam for GOG on the cheap stuff and found it worth it?

Nah I feel you on that "internet handshake" thing, that's the realest take. Nothing worse than trying to boot up an old gem you bought years ago only to find out the DRM servers went kaput or your account got flagged for some dumb reason. GOG just works, no BS, and that peace of mind is worth more than a few extra bucks off a Steam sale honestly. I've grabbed a bunch of their old school RPG bundles too and never looked back. It's nice knowing I can actually pass these games down or whatever without worrying about some company pulling the plug.

My $5 haul included Fallout 1 and 2 plus Arcanum back in 2021, and I still haven't touched half of them. Steam sales got me good for years but GOG actually lets you own the damn thing without needing an internet handshake every time you want to launch it. Your mileage may vary but I'd rather give my money to a store that doesn't treat my library like a rental agreement.
