My $5 thrift store controller lasted exactly one boss fight
Picked up a dusty Xbox 360 controller at a Value Village for 5 bucks last Saturday. The left stick drifted so hard during a Dark Souls bonfire run that I fell off a cliff twice. Anybody else have luck getting these things working again or is it just e-waste?

Dark Souls and a 5 dollar controller is a match made in hell honestly. The left stick drift is usually just dust or gunk stuck under the thumbstick cap, so try blowing compressed air around the base of it before you toss it. If that doesn't work, replacing the stick module is only a few bucks and a YouTube video away, definitely not e-waste yet.

Hold up @the_ruby, you expect a 5 dollar controller to actually still work?

Oh man, that's the classic "cheap fix" trap we all fall into! It's like buying a $5 umbrella that flips inside out the second a breeze hits. But honestly, this kind of thing happens way more often than it should. I swear, our whole culture is built around stuff that's just barely good enough to work once, then fails exactly when you need it most. Like, you'll pay a little bit more for a decent controller and it'll last years, but the super cheap version is basically designed to break. It's the same with phone chargers, headphones, even furniture now. We're so used to "good enough" that we forget some things are worth the extra few bucks.
