I used to grab every Steam game under $5, now I wait for free Epic giveaways instead
Back in 2019 I was spending maybe $20 a month on random $2 games during sales, most of which I never installed. Then Epic started handing out stuff like GTA V and Control for free every week, and I realized I was wasting money on junk. Now I only buy a game if I actually plan to play it that week, and my backlog actually gets smaller. Has anyone else stopped impulse buying since the free games started rolling in?

Is it really that deep though? I mean yeah free games are nice, but was your impulse buying actually hurting you that much? Twenty bucks a month on games you might never play sounds like a pretty cheap hobby.

Isn't it funny how realizing you were paying for junk you never touch makes you rethink the whole habit? I think the freebies just made it obvious how much of that $20 was going straight to a digital shelf collecting dust, and once you see that, it's hard to go back to grabbing every cheap game on a whim. Would you say it's more about the money or just the clutter in your library that got you to change?
