GOG sales vs Steam sales... night and day difference for old games
I spent $12 on GOG during their summer sale and got 5 classic RPGs that all run perfectly on my laptop. Steam had the same games for $30 total and half of them needed fan patches just to start. Has anyone else noticed GOG just works better for the real old stuff?

Oh man, totally agree with you there. GOG is the only place I trust for anything from before like 2010. Bought Arcanum on Steam once and it crashed every 20 minutes, had to mess with config files just to make it run.

Patriciamoore you're wrong here, sorry. Steam actually makes it so much easier to get old games running with community patches and Proton compatibility. GOG just boxes them up and calls it a day but half the time the DOSBox settings are garbage. I've had way fewer problems on Steam with classics like System Shock 2 and Deus Ex compared to the GOG versions. Those config files you had to mess with? That's just how PC gaming used to be, Steam didn't break that. GOG sells you a false promise of "it just works" and then you still have to Google fixes half the time anyway.
