Went to a rooftop nursery in Austin and saw something that scared me
I stopped by Green Towers Nursery off Lamar last weekend to grab potting mix, and they had a display balcony with tomato plants that were all wilting in the afternoon sun, even though they were watered. Turns out the building's metal railing was reflecting so much heat it basically cooked the roots, and the staff said they lost 20 plants this month that way. If you've got a south-facing balcony with a metal or glass railing, have you checked the surface temp on a hot day? I'm wondering if I need to move my whole setup to the north side.
