Thought balcony carrots were a waste of time until I pulled 14 out of a 10 inch pot
Last spring I figured carrots needed deep soil, so I almost skipped them on my 4th floor place in Boise. I filled a 10 inch pot with a cheap seed mix from the hardware store, tossed in some short round seeds, and about 80 days later I dug out 14 little guys that actually tasted better than the store ones. What else have you all been told won't work on a balcony that turned out fine anyway?
A 5 gallon bucket on my patio gave me 9 potatoes last year after everyone said containers were pointless. Cherry tomatoes in a hanging basket on my railing also went nuts, got like 40 off one plant.
