PSA: Overheard a guy at the hardware store say he waters his tomatoes with leftover pickle juice

He was dead serious, claiming the vinegar keeps pests away. I'm not brave enough to try it on my own balcony cherry tomatoes, but has anyone else heard something this wild that actually works?

Watched my friend try the pickle juice thing on his peppers last summer. He swore it worked for a week, then the whole plant turned yellow and crispy. It was a sad, salty mess, kind of like what @xena_rivera63 predicted. He still gets teased about his "pickle-pepper project.

My gardening skills are so bad I once killed a cactus by looking at it wrong. If I tried the pickle juice trick, I'd probably end up with a jar of tomato-flavored pickles and a very sad, salty plant. I'm sticking to regular water and hoping for the best. Some experiments are best left to the pros.

Wait, is pickle juice for plants actually a thing people do? I mean, I've seen some weird gardening tips online but that sounds like a great way to mess up your soil. @xena_rivera63, I get being careful, but honestly, sometimes the "pro" advice is just someone making stuff up for clicks. My neighbor swears by coffee grounds for her roses, but she also talks to them, so idk.
