My pepper plant almost died after one crazy windy day on my 5th floor balcony

Last Wednesday in Chicago we had that big wind storm out of nowhere. Ive got a little balcony garden with some bell peppers and cherry tomatoes. I thought my tomato cage was enough but the wind basically snapped my pepper plant in half. I tried to tape it up with some gardening tape I had but I dont know if its gonna make it. The leaves are all droopy still. Has anyone else had a plant survive after getting wrecked by wind on a high balcony? Should I just give up and start a new one?

Dude that sucks. I had a tomato plant get absolutely demolished by a freak hailstorm last summer and I thought it was toast but I just left it alone and it came back way bushier than before. Maybe give it a couple weeks before you toss it.

Wait, did the hail actually break the main stem or was it mostly leaves and branches? I had a pepper plant snap clean in half once and tried to save it with tape and a splint, but it just rotted at the break point and died slowly. That sucked way worse than just tossing it. So if the main stem is still solid you probably got a chance, but if it's busted all the way through, I'd say just start over. What kind of plant was it anyway? That makes a big difference too.
