My neighbor's 'full sun' tomato plant is in the shade of their AC unit from 10am to 4pm.

They've been complaining about the yield for two seasons, but I can see the problem from my balcony across the alley. Has anyone else had to gently point out a basic light issue to a fellow gardener?

Honestly just show them a sun tracking app on your phone. Pull it up and say "check this out, my plants get roasted here." Point at the shadow line from their AC unit at noon. Sometimes people need to see the hard data, not just hear it. Maybe suggest a cheap grow bag they can move into a sunnier spot next year.

Wait, from 10 to 4? That's basically the whole day! Jade_hernandez has the right idea with the sun app, that's a brutal shadow schedule.

Yeah, the "hard data" thing... I see that everywhere now. People won't believe the shade until you show them the sun map, or won't believe the train is late until you pull up the live tracker. We've gotten so used to seeing the proof on a screen.
