My cherry tomato plant went totally wild after I stopped pruning it lol

I spent the first 3 months of summer trimming my balcony tomato like every guide said to. Then I got lazy for like 2 weeks in July and forgot to touch it. The thing exploded with fruit. I got maybe 20 tomatoes from it before I stopped pruning and then over 80 after. Now idk if I should prune my next one or just let it grow like a jungle lol. Has anyone else had a plant do better when you just left it alone?

Oh man, I totally gave up on pruning my basil once and it turned into a freaking tree.

Bet it looked wild though. Did it at least still produce some edible leaves or was it all woody stems and no flavor at that point? I've always wondered if letting a basil plant go full tree mode ruins the taste or if it's still decent for cooking. Seems like the flowers and seeds take over all the energy once it gets that big.
