I miss my old balcony setup from 3 years ago
I moved into a new place last month and my balcony is half the size of my old one. Three years ago I had room for 8 tomato plants and a whole bunch of herbs. Now I can barely fit 2 pepper pots and a sad little basil plant. The sunlight is way worse too because a new building went up next door. I tried those wall-mounted planters but my landlord said no drilling. Has anyone figured out how to make a shady balcony still produce decent veggies?

You ever try growing lettuce in a shady spot? I used to be one of those guys who thought you needed full blast sun for anything to grow, but a buddy of mine proved me wrong. He grows a ton of leafy greens on his north-facing porch in the summer and they do fine. Just gotta pick the right stuff like spinach or arugula, stuff that actually bolts less in shade. Might not give you tomatoes but at least you'd have something fresh out there.

Oh, that's a tough situation. I really feel for you, moving into a place with less light is such a setback when you've had a good garden going. I've been through something similar and know how frustrating it is to watch your plants struggle.
