Honestly, I saw a neighbor's balcony in Chicago last month that totally changed how I think about vertical space.

Oh totally! I saw something similar where they had a tiny herb garden and a fold-down table on their balcony. It made me realize you can basically add a whole extra room up there if you get creative with it.

Reminds me of my old neighbor who turned his fire escape into a reading spot. He zip-tied a plastic crate to the railing for a book holder and used an old car floor mat as a tiny rug. It wasn't much, but he'd be out there every evening with a cup of tea. Really showed me you don't need a proper balcony to carve out a little space for yourself.

Did you ever try hanging plants to block the view of the brick wall next door? I used some cheap hooks and those plastic hanging baskets for herbs. It made my tiny fire escape feel way more private and green.
