Can we talk about the time I tried to grow spinach on my balcony in February?

I set up 4 pots on my Chicago balcony when it was still 30 degrees out and the seedlings turned yellow in a week. I ended up bringing them inside under a $15 clip lamp and they bounced back, but I lost half of them. Anyone else try to jump the gun on spring planting and regret it?
