Blew $60 on a self watering balcony planter and my basil drowned in 2 weeks
Bought one of those fancy self watering boxes at a garden center on Milwaukee Ave thinking it would save me from forgetting to water. The reservoir holds way more than my basil could ever drink. Soil stayed soggy, roots rotted, and I pulled out dead stems by day 14. Sixty bucks gone and a lesson learned. Went back to a plain terracotta pot with a saucer. Anyone got a self watering setup that actually works on a south facing balcony, or is the whole idea just a trap for people who overwater?
