Two cake layers slid off each other at my sister's baby shower in Reno
I stacked a lemon cake with cream cheese frosting on Saturday and it turned into a leaning tower by the time we cut it. The layers were still slightly warm when I iced them, and I used too much filling, so the top one just slid off slow motion. I grabbed a handful of buttercream to patch it up but it looked like a mudslide mess. Has anyone else had a cake collapse from warm layers or is this just my cursed kitchen?

Wait, did you try telling it to behave before it made its grand escape?
My last cake did the same thing, I called it the Leaning Tower of Pisa but with less charm and more buttercream damage.

Actually warm layers are usually fine as long as you let them cool completely first, the real issue is probably that filling was too heavy and soft. Maybe the cake itself was overmixed or too dense, that makes layers slide even when everything's room temp.
