Tried to make macarons for my sister's baby shower and batch #4 finally worked
I started baking macarons at 9am on Saturday and did not get a single good batch until almost 5pm. The first tray came out cracked like crazy, the second had no feet at all, and the third ones were hollow inside when I bit into one. Turns out my oven runs about 25 degrees hot, so I dropped it to 300 and let the shells rest for 45 minutes before baking, and that did it. Four batches and a whole bag of almond flour gone, but the pink ones finally looked right. Has anyone else had to fight their oven temp this hard for macarons, or is it just me?
My oven was off by 30 degrees when I checked it with a thermometer, total game changer. Did the same rest thing too, like 40 mins until they stopped being sticky. Batch 4 is basically a rite of passage lol
