PSA: My sister told me my cookies were too flat, so I chilled the dough for 2 hours before baking
She pointed out the butter was too warm before I even started, and now my cookies come out thick and chewy instead of flat disks. Anyone else have a sibling who gives brutally honest baking feedback?

My brother once told me my pie crust came out tough because I was overworking the dough, and he was right. We were both standing in the kitchen and he just pointed at my hands and said "you're kneading it like bread." Hard to hear but he was spot on. After that I started keeping everything cold and barely touching the dough, made a huge difference. Sometimes the blunt family feedback is exactly what you need, even if it stings a little in the moment.
