My sourdough starter went from sad to spectacular after I moved it to a different spot in my kitchen
For about three weeks, my starter was sluggish and barely doubled. It lived on the counter next to my fridge. I moved it to the top of my microwave, which is a few feet away and consistently warmer, and within two days it was active and doubling in under 4 hours. The ambient temperature change made all the difference. Anyone else find their starter is super picky about location?

Remember starters can also hate drafts from fridge vents.

Wait, is that why my starter sometimes just gives up? @the_michael I had this old fridge and my sourdough would never rise right on that side of the kitchen. Moved it away from the vent and it was like a different culture. Cold air just kills the activity, you can see it get sluggish. Makes total sense when you think about it, they want a steady warm spot. My last one would get a weird skin on top if it was in a draft.

Seems a bit dramatic, no?
