Just realized 36 cookies from one batch is too many, and I don't care what the recipe says
Every baking blog says portion with a scoop so you get 24 even cookies. I ignored that and got 36 slightly different sized cookies out of my last chocolate chip batch in my tiny Omaha kitchen. The small ones got crisp on the edges and the big ones stayed soft on Tuesday when I brought them to work. Now people ask for the small ones on purpose. Am I the only one who thinks uneven cookies actually turn out better?
Man, this is the same thing I see with so many "rules" people treat like law. The scoop method makes cookies that all look the same but eat the same too, and the mixed sizes give you options depending on your mood. Life is messy and uneven, so why should our cookies be any different?
