Had a neighbor scold me over my pie crust at a block party last June

She watched me overwork the dough and said I was squeezing out all the butter chunks that make it flake. Been chilling my butter and handling it less since then, and my last 3 pies actually came out good. Anyone else get unsolicited baking advice from strangers that actually worked?

June 2019 a random lady told me my pie looked sad and honestly it did.

Poke a hole right through that logic, @henry_webb68. Your pie probably looked sad because it was honest, and honesty in baking is a good thing. That lady was just projecting her own insecurity about perfect looking pies onto yours. Real pies don't try to be Instagram models, they just taste good. Why would you want a pie that looks happy anyway, wouldn't that be a little creepy
