Unpopular opinion: The Room is actually overrated for bad movie nights

I sat through The Room twice with my group in Tacoma last month and I just don't get the hype. Troll 2 or Miami Connection have way more genuine laugh-out-loud moments that don't feel forced. Does anyone else think people just say they like The Room because it's the most famous one?

Miami Connection is a solid pick, but The Room's badness is more... specific. The weird pacing, the random football tossing, the creepy subplot that goes nowhere. Troll 2 has its charm with the goblin stuff, but The Room feels like a genuine train wreck someone actually tried to make good. Most people I know who hype it up have actually seen it more than once, which says something.

lol "genuine train wreck someone actually tried to make good" is exactly it @fiona332. It's like when people hype up a startup that failed spectacularly but with passion, you know? Everyone wants to be in on the original mess instead of the copycats.
