Still think Sharknado 3 is the peak of bad movies...

My buddy Matt argued last night that The Room is way more fun because it's actually trying to be serious, and after he pointed out how the audience throws spoons, I kinda see his point, but does that really beat a chainsaw fight on a bus?

My brother in law dragged me to a midnight showing of The Room once, didn't tell me what it was. Walked in thinking it'd be some indie drama, left two hours later with my brain fried and a plastic spoon in my pocket. Someone threw a football across the theater and I dodged it like a moron. That energy can't be beat by Sharknado's CGI crap, no contest. The Room is peak bad because it's a real dude who thought he was making art, not some cash grab like the SyFy channel churns out.

Got a buddy named Dave who went to a screening of The Room in Austin a few years back. He said some dude in the front row brought a full pizza box and started hurling slices at the screen during the "You're tearing me apart, Lisa!" scene. Security came down to grab him, but the guy just bolted out the fire exit laughing like a maniac. @jake_walker is spot on though - you can't fake that kind of weird, genuine passion. Sharknado feels like a bunch of execs in a boardroom going "what if we put sharks in a tornado lol," but The Room is Tommy Wiseau's twisted vision, and that's why it hits different.
