Jade3's football comment is a total classic, I still crack up every time I think about that scene. But yeah, I had the exact same experience with "The Room" - sat my roommate down and tried to sell it as this deep, tragic story, and by the third "you're tearing me apart" we were both on the floor laughing. The boyfriend's probably just trying to defend his taste, but you can't unsee how hilariously wrong the whole thing is, @jade3 knows what I mean.

Okay but maybe the boyfriend has a point? It's easy to just laugh at the weird lines and the football tossing, like jade3 said. But if you watch it straight, the story is actually a super sad drama about a guy getting betrayed by everyone. The delivery is just so bad it becomes funny. Maybe it's meant to be a serious tragedy that totally missed the mark.
