Saw The Room back to back with The Disaster Artist and wow what a difference

I watched The Room with my buddy Mike last Friday night and it was the usual train wreck of bad acting and nonsense. Then we immediately threw on The Disaster Artist right after and I couldn't believe how much better the same story became with actual effort. The Room went from a 2003 disaster to a 2017 comedy goldmine just by adding a behind the scenes angle. Has anyone else done a double feature like that and seen how a bad movie changes when you know the backstory?

Did you ever throw your own terrible movie night and realize you were the Tommy Wiseau of the group the whole time? Because I definitely filmed a cringey short film in high school that makes The Room look like Spielberg.

I mean watching The Room first then The Disaster Artist is honestly the best way to do it. I did the same thing with my roommate last year and it really hit different seeing Tommy Wiseau being so serious about his terrible choices. If you want to try something similar, check out Ed Wood followed by the Tim Burton biopic about him. Same deal where knowing the backstory makes the bad movie way more fun to sit through.
