Rant: That indie horror darling everyone hyped was a total slog

I get the appeal of a movie being so bad it's good, but this one crossed the line into just boring. My buddy swore the 87-minute runtime flew by and the ending was "genuinely wild", but I was checking my phone by minute 40. The kills were all off screen, the acting felt like a high school play, and the main character made choices that made zero sense even for a slasher. We watched it last Friday with a six pack and even drunk it felt like homework. Has anyone else had a film that the entire forum loves but you just can't find the fun in, even with the right crew?

Blame the hype machine for setting the bar so high that the movie never had a chance to just be dumb fun.
