I'll die on this hill: The Room is not actually fun to watch with friends

Everyone acts like gathering a group to riff on Tommy Wiseau makes it better, but after trying it 3 times with different crowds, the dead silence between jokes just kills the whole vibe. Am I the only one who thinks this movie works way better alone where you can soak in the awkwardness without anyone trying to be funny?

Friend tried this once. Three people in the room and she was the only one laughing.
