I just read that 'The Room' was originally a stage play before it became a movie

Found that fact in a 2012 interview with Tommy Wiseau, and it explains so much about the movie's weird, theatrical dialogue. Anyone else have a favorite 'bad' movie with a surprising backstory?

I saw a documentary that claimed Tommy Wiseau funded the whole movie by importing leather jackets from Korea. That explains the random fashion scenes!

Wait, he sold jackets from Korea? That's the weirdest thing I've ever heard.

Haha YES I remember that documentary! It's called Room Full of Spoons I think. And honestly it makes so much sense once you know about it. I looked into it after watching and apparently he was literally selling those jackets out of the back of his car at the same time he was filming. The whole fashion show scene was basically a giant ad for his inventory lmao.
