Hot take: My 'bad movie night' group in Boise only works if we start with the worst film first, not the best one.

We tried to save the absolute worst for last, but after a 3-hour slog through 'The Last Vampire on Earth', a 2007 direct-to-DVD mess, everyone was too tired and annoyed to enjoy the slightly better bad movie we had lined up, so now we always open with the biggest disaster to get the groans and laughs out early.

Learned that lesson the hard way with a double feature of 'Birdemic' and 'The Room'.

That sounds like a special kind of pain.

The real killer nobody talks about is the length to quality ratio. A 90 minute trainwreck like 'Birdemic' flies by, but a 2+ hour slog like 'The Last Vampire on Earth' just breaks the group's spirit before you even get to the fun bad stuff. We actually time our movies now and anything over 100 minutes has to earn its spot on the lineup. Short and terrible always beats long and terrible when you're trying to keep the energy up for a whole night. Have you guys ever cut a movie early because it was more boring than bad?
