Compared two bad movie night approaches and one was way better

I used to just throw on whatever random bad movie I found on streaming. Last month I tried actually planning a theme night with my buddy Mike. We picked 'The Room' and then watched 'Birdemic' after. Having a clear theme made the jokes and commentary way better because we could compare the bad acting and weird choices side by side. Has anyone else tried theme nights over just picking at random?

Theme nights are a pretty solid upgrade from the random dumpster fire approach. Me and my buddy tried a "so bad it's good" double feature with 'Sharknado' and 'Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus' and we spent half the night trying to figure out which one had worse CGI. Spoiler alert, it was the octopus one by a landslide. Random bad movies are fine for background noise but having something to compare makes the whole thing way funnier. Just make sure your friend Mike is cool with sitting through two disasters back to back or you'll be watching the second one alone.

See I hear what you're saying but man that double feature sounds like a chore more than a good time... like sure the comparison is funny for a bit but by the time the octopus finally shows up in Mega Shark I'm already zoning out. I've tried the so bad it's good thing and honestly after about 45 minutes of either of those movies I just want to turn it off and find something that doesn't hurt my brain. Sharknado at least knows what it is and leans into the stupid, but that octopus movie takes itself way too seriously for how fake it looks. Maybe I'm just not the target audience for that kind of pain back to back.
