Update: My neighborhood's new street lamps are messing with my meteor shower watching.
Can you share any tips for spotting faint stars when the sky is too bright?

Yeah I use a red flashlight and a dark cloth over my head to help my eyes adjust.

Honestly, the red flashlight and dark cloth method is such a classic move. It reminds me of how people always jury-rig solutions for sensory stuff. Like stuffing a towel under the door to block light or using headphones as earmuffs in a pinch. We're all just out here cobbling together comfort with whatever junk we have lying around. It's kind of beautiful in a weird, desperate way.

I mean, at that point you're basically cosplaying as a human darkroom. Just need some weird chemical smells and you're all set. Kinda love the commitment to looking like a weirdo for the sake of your night vision though.
