The lawn chairs that saved my neck last week during the Perseids
Been fighting with my cheap tripod for months. The legs keep sliding on the dew-soaked grass and I almost dumped my 8 inch dob on my foot twice. Then last Tuesday I noticed my neighbor's stack of old reclining lawn chairs sitting by the curb for trash day. Grabbed two of them, laid them flat on their backs, and propped the telescope base between the armrests. Rock solid the whole night. Used a bungee cord from my trunk for extra hold. Watched the Perseids for 2 hours without a single wiggle. Anyone else got a weird backyard hack that worked better than the expensive gear?
