Spent $45 on a used telrad finder and it made my cheap dob actually usable at night
My old finder scope was worthless in the dark so I grabbed this one off Craigslist and now I can actually find DSOs without fighting the alignment for 20 minutes, anyone else ditch their cheap finder for a telrad?

Actually usable at night" like it was a paperweight before. It's a finder scope, not brain surgery.

Huh, I gotta disagree with you there @campbell.robin. A good finder scope makes a huge difference when you're trying to center a faint nebula or galaxy in the dark. My cheap stock one was basically useless past 3x, all wobbly and no illumination. Spending a little extra on a illuminated reticle finder with higher magnification literally lets me actually use it to find stuff at night, not just when the moon's out.
