My old star charts from the 90s are falling apart, but I still use them more than any app on my phone.

(They’re probably more accurate than most apps anyway, with all the light pollution updates.)

Honestly this is part of a bigger thing where digital stuff gets overcomplicated. They keep adding features and updates that just break the simple core function. My old paper map just sits there and works, no battery, no wrong location data. Feels like we're fixing things that were never broken to begin with.

Totally get that, my old planisphere has better star placement than half the apps I've tried. Grant465 makes a good point about the light pollution thing messing with the digital charts. There's just something about the feel of paper under a red light that an app can't beat.
