My old binoculars broke and I had to choose between a cheap new pair or fixing them myself.
I found a repair kit online for about $25, but a basic new set was $40. I went with the kit, followed a video guide, and now they work better than before. Has anyone else fixed their own gear instead of replacing it?

Honestly seems like a lot of work for fifteen bucks. I mean idk maybe it's just me but I'd probably just get the new ones and not deal with the hassle. Fixing stuff always sounds good until you're covered in tiny screws and glue.

My uncle fixed his old headphones with a toothpick and super glue last year. They still work fine.

I did the same thing with my sewing machine last month. The tension was off and the local shop wanted $85 just to look at it. Ended up watching a few youtube videos and spending $12 on a new bobbin case and some oil. Saved myself a ton of cash and honestly learned more about how the thing actually works. Ever try fixing something more complicated than you thought you could handle?
