My buddy said my star charts were overkill for a 60mm scope, and he was right
I used to print out 12 pages of charts every time I set up in the driveway, and I would spend 20 minutes at the table before even looking up. Last month my buddy Rob watched me do this from a lawn chair and finally asked why I was doing homework instead of stargazing. He pointed out that my little 60mm refractor only shows a few dozen good targets anyway, so I really only need one page. I tried it that night with just a single chart of the Summer Triangle area and found four new double stars in under an hour. Now I keep one laminated page in my pocket and leave the binder inside. Anyone else guilty of over-prepping for a simple backyard session?
